Are you doing Medical Medium on a budget? How to save money while healing on Medical Medium Protocols and what's important to buy in order to heal.
When I first switched over to eating the Medical Medium® way in 2017, I thought, "I'm going to save so much money not buying grass-fed beef, pastured poultry, and eggs!"
Was I in for a surprise.
Between the sheer quantities of produce, celery to juice, and the RIGHT supplements that aren't b.s., this lifestyle can get quite pricy.
But don't fret. There are ways to make this lifestyle a little bit more budget friendly.
I'm writing this blog from the perspective of someone who's personally followed this lifestyle strictly for almost a decade and who has been guiding folks day in and day out since then. This accumulates to hundreds of thousands of conversations, years of research and purchases, and years of making this lifestyle work.
Let's get to it.
First, when money is tight, know that FOOD is the most important thing as opposed to supplements.
You can't just buy some Vimergy supplements and then eat foods that feed pathogens, high fat, low to no fruit, and "average health-aware American" amounts of leafy greens. Hands down- that will just leave you feeling the same, if not worse.
That brings us to the first tip...
Tip Number 1: The Most Important Foods to Spend Money On
This list is a combination of the most important and the most budget friendly.
Potatoes- particularly russets, golds, and reds. These are full of healing properties and higher in calories to keep you feeling satiated. They're also one of the least expensive foods with high reward. Potatoes work well for most folks, they're soothing to the gut, and anti-viral due to the L-lysine they contain.
Bananas- like potatoes, bananas are one of the more affordable food options on the Medical Medium® lifestyle. They're the perfect fuel, they're antiviral, and soothing to the gut and the nerves. Buy bunches and bunches of bananas. Freeze them to make nice cream for a tasty treat! There's no better pre or post workout food either.
Leafy greens- Want to heal your nerves? Your gut? Need omega three's? Leafy greens such as lettuce, spinach, dandelion greens, kale, purslane, cilantro (AW says to eat cilantro as a leafy green. Meaning, in large quantities!), parsley, etc. will go a long way in your healing. Don't skip adding these to your grocery cart in LARGE quantities. Aim for a minimum of a 1/2lb per day, but 1lb a day will really ignite your path forward!
Apples- Keep a lot of apples around for snacking or for making the base of a meal or snack. Medical Medium® information says it's not just one apple a day, but eat THREE apples a day for the most healing benefits. Nothing else will clean up the liver quite like apples. And with it's pectin, remove debris from the intestinal tract like no other.
Celery!! This can go either way for folks. What I mean by that is not everyone can handle it at first or they can only handle it in small quantities. If you can't handle it at all, try cucumber juice in it's place until you can tolerate it. BUT celery juice does significantly help move the needle in healing. So if you can afford it and you can physically juice... DO IT.
Wild Blueberries- Whether you can get them frozen, dried from Vimergy, or the juice from Wyman's, this is an ESSENTIAL food to remove heavy metals from especially the brain, bring powerful antioxidants to the liver and cells, and it's one of the most powerful adaptogenic foods on the planet. Put your money towards wild blueberries (must be WILD). This is not the most affordable item, but it's on this list because if it's one of the items to splurge on.
Cilantro- Another food that is amazing at removing heavy metals and will work in tandem with the other HM removing foods. This isn't usually a break-the-bank food, but this is a food that will help you get the most healing from the money you spend. You can also eat cilantro AS a leafy green, AW says.
Dulse- Also another food that removes heavy metals. If you do just wild blueberries, cilantro, and dulse, these will work wonderfully at removing HM's. Yes, adding the spirulina and barley grass juice powder is ideal, but if you can only afford to do the 3 foods and can't afford to buy the added supplements to complete the HMDS, you're still removing metals at a decent pace.
Tip Number Two: These are the Most Important Supplements with the Most Benefits.
A note on which brand for these supplements listed below- Vimergy is your best bet. I know it's tempting to buy something cheaper, but remember that supplement companies are not required to put every ingredient on the label when it's below a certain amount. Additionally, what you're not seeing on the bottle is the caliber and quality of the supplement. You can't trust most labels that claim "high quality." I'm sorry, you just can't. Most others will be a waste of your money and not take you even close to where you want to be.
So if you're going to buy supplements and you can only afford a few, these are what you want (in order of importance).
Zinc Sulfate- Correcting zinc deficiencies is essential to restoring the immune system among other processes in the body.
Micro C- Supports the immune system, flushes toxins out of the lymphatic system, and Vimergy Micro C contains silica which helps rebuild damaged cells and tissues.
B12- but only in the forms of adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin- B12 is essential to support the nervous system, brain, and immune system.
If you can keep going- Lemon Balm.
If you can keep going- Barley grass juice powder and spirulina.
If you can keep going- Curcumin (preferably Vimergy, but if you're going to buy a different brand, make sure the amount is comparable to Vimergy and it does not contain black pepper or lots of other ingredients.
If you can keep going, L-lysine (preferably Vimergy, but there are other relatively good brands, such as Pure Encapsulations. Just make sure there are no fillers like magnesium stearate) or Cat's Claw.
Tip Number 3: Buy Herbs in Bulk and Hulk Out on Tea
Teas are amazing. Everyone should be doing a strong tea or tea blend at least once a day. Herbs have so many supportive and healing benefits. Just because the MM website links to a tincture, doesn't mean you can't do it in a tea! A tea is weaker, but that's ok. It's all about consistently doing a medicinal does (see below).
Buy organic herbs in bulk (usually 1 pound is much more affordable than buying a few ounces more often). Remember, you're going to need strong amounts consistently if you're not doing herbs as tinctures. These will last you 5 times longer than the tinctures, so keep that in mind.
Here's how to use tea herbs CORRECTLY.
1. Use 1 tablespoon or more of one herb. The amount of water doesn't matter if you're drinking the whole thing.
2. Don't mix more than 4 herbs together in one tea. This way, you're still ingesting a medicinal amount of the herb. Little bits won't give you as noticeable results.
3. Brew for at least 15-20 minutes, as per AW. You can also simmer for 1 hour.
4. Create at least one (if not two or three!) unique blends for yourself with herbs catered to your exact needs, just as you would a supplement protocol.
Tip Number 4: Grow Healing Herbs
I know not everyone has the physical capacity and energy to do this. If you can't, you WILL one day, if you stick with your protocols.
If you DO have the physical capacity and just enough energy to do this, once you get them going, there's not as much work.
What's better economically than buying a few packs of seeds and having herbs indefinitely?!
Grow herbs according to your needs and location.
Herbs I like to grow while healing the MM way:
Thyme
Rosemary
Sage
Oregano
Lemon Balm (takes over and comes back)
Cilantro- a little more finicky. Doesn't like heat. Best in cooler climates and in shaded areas. If you get it established in the right place, cilantro will reseed itself every year.
Any herb MM talks about that describes the type of support you need!
There you have it. Healing using Medical Medium® information is quite simple when you thing about it, isn't it? You've got this!
